Lokta Paper - Handmade Paper from Nepal

These papers are produced according to traditional papermaking methods, an ancient craft in the Himalayan region of Nepal. The daphne (Latin: Daphne papyrifera), known as lokta, used in production grows at altitudes between 1,500 and 3,000 meters. Lokta can be harvested every 2–3 years: The stem of the bush is cut about 30 cm above the ground as soon as it reaches a diameter of 5 to 7 cm. This ensures regrowth and maintains the ecological balance.
