Oops—a stain? Wool is naturally stain- and water-resistant. If something does go wrong, blot it up quickly. Dried stains can be blotted with a mild solution of wool detergent (please do not rub the area) and/or gently brushed away. Machine washing is also possible, but please be sure to use the delicate cycle (wool cycle). Use only moisturizing soaps, such as shampoo or wool detergent, when cleaning felt products so that the wool’s natural oil content is not reduced. Then let it dry flat and, if necessary, iron with a moderately warm iron; set to wool, preferably with steam. Felt is a natural product made from pure virgin wool; it is durable and extremely tear-resistant. The phenomenon of pilling sometimes occurs on the surface of felt bags, meaning small wool balls form due to friction. Please never pull these balls off; instead, carefully cut them off with scissors or use a lint shaver, similar to the one used on wool sweaters.
